Mohan Bhagwat, RSS Chief, has said that "Hindu samskriti (culture)" is the identity of India. He added that it is why India is known as "Hindu Rashtra". He stressed on organizing all those who accept Indian values as well as cultural system of unity in diversity.

Bhagwat was quoted saying at an event in an RSS statement that, "Hindu samskriti or Bharatiya Samskriti, we have this as our identity. Bharat is not just a name of some part or piece of land. The land keeps increasing or decreasing based on how it is being treated. The nature of the society is its 'samskriti'. This is the 'samskriti' which binds us all together, thus is our identity and that is the reason it is known as Hindu Rashtra. Not many know and not many believe but it is universally accepted. We all are Hindus as we have accepted the very nature of the 'samskriti'."

"We should organize those Hindus who accept the values and Indian cultural system of unity in diversity, so that they work towards the county's progress... Groom them with 'samskars' so that we see an organised society," he said.

He said we as Indians do not believe or follow that uniformity is essential for unity, unlike other countries. He added that uniformity is not mandatory for unity, but one must be able to find unity in diversity. Our country has always been one inspite of diversities, which had a mention even in Atherva Veda. India is bound by its culture of unity and diversity, added Bhagwat.

While addressing the valedictory ceremony of Akhil Bharatiya Shrung Ghosh Shbir 'SWARANJALI-2016' (four-day event), Bhagwat said: "We all are Hindus as we have accepted the very nature of this culture (of unity in diversity). This culture does not do a differentiation in ways of praying to God or even in the name of the religion, caste sub caste, language."
