Sonia Gandhi's political aide Ahmed Patel has refuted all claims of closeness by the BJP's PM candidate Narendra Modi. Earlier Narendra Modi had given an interview on Doordarshan where he claimed that he used to be close friends with Ahmed Patel.

However, on Friday Ahmed Patel refuted Modi's claims saying the remarks were "baseless" and "a complete lie".

Sonia's aide also termed Modi's claims as "ridiculous" and a "political stunt" to create "confusion" in between the 2014 general elections.

Patel even offered to quit his political career if Modi could produce any proof that he had taken any favours from the BJP's PM candidate.
