Delhi has seen a rise of over 100 new coronavirus cases as the infectious disease resurfaces, having caused millions of fatalities globally since 2020. According to the central COVID-19 dashboard, there are currently 1,009 active cases throughout the nation. In the capital, there are 104 active cases, with 99 of these recorded just in the past week. Nevertheless, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has reassured the public that there is no reason for alarm, highlighting that hospitals are equipped to handle any potential increase in cases. The minister noted that these cases were identified by private laboratories and explained that the symptoms associated with the current variant are similar to those of a typical influenza infection.
Kerala is leading the states in managing the upward trend, registering 430 coronavirus cases, while Maharashtra follows with 209. Delhi ranks third in the numbers. Other states include Gujarat with 83 cases, Karnataka with 47, Uttar Pradesh with 15, and West Bengal with 12.
In terms of fatalities linked to Covid, Maharashtra has reported four deaths, Kerala two, and Karnataka one. There are currently no active cases in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, or Jammu and Kashmir. Following widespread and quick vaccination efforts across all age groups, the number of Covid cases in India had decreased significantly, easing strict containment measures.
