The autopsy examination of the young doctor, who was tragically assaulted and killed during her shift at a Kolkata hospital last week, has revealed significant details about the injuries sustained by her body. The report, which has been accessed indicates that these injuries were inflicted prior to her death. The cause of her demise was determined to be strangulation, and the medical evidence also confirmed the occurrence of sexual assault. Contrary to earlier claims, the report refutes the presence of "150 gm/mg of semen" in the victim's body, as mentioned in a petition filed by her family. Instead, it notes the discovery of a "white thick viscid fluid," without specifying its nature. Interestingly, the report documents the weight of the victim's genitalia as "151 gm," which is a standard practice in post-mortem examinations. Notably, the report does not mention any instances of fractures. However, it details a range of injuries across various body parts, including the head, face, neck, arms, legs, and the genital area.

The lifeless body of the doctor was discovered at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9, igniting national demonstrations and doctor strikes. Kolkata Police arrested a civic volunteer named Sanjay Roy a day later. The Calcutta High Court then directed the CBI to take over the investigation, and the central agency has been questioning the former principal of the medical college, Sandip Ghosh, for the past four days.
