The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act was used to file charges against B S Yediyurappa, a former chief minister and prominent BJP leader in Karnataka. The allegation is that Yediyurappa sexually harassed a minor at his residence in Bengaluru last month. The complaint was made by a woman who had visited his home seeking justice for her daughter in a rape case. She requested the formation of a special investigation team (SIT) to look into the matter.

According to the complaint, Yediyurappa took the minor into a room, closed the door, and sexually harassed her. When confronted, he claimed that he was merely checking if the girl had been raped. Yediyurappa later apologized and asked the woman to keep the incident a secret. The Sadashivanagar police in Bengaluru have registered a case against Yediyurappa under Section 8 of the Pocso Act and Section 354(a) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for committing sexual assault and sexual harassment, respectively.
