Key suspect in Bengaluru cafe blast case taken into custody

A primary individual of interest in the Bengaluru Rameshwaram Cafe blast case has been apprehended by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), according to sources within the anti-terror agency. The suspect, known as Shabbir, was taken into custody in the Bellary district of Karnataka. The NIA is currently conducting an interrogation of the suspect. The blast, which occurred on March 1, resulted in ten people sustaining injuries. The explosion was caused by an IED bomb that was triggered using a timer. This recent development follows the release of several CCTV footage by the police, which prominently featured the main suspect. On March 1, a photograph was captured showing the suspect, estimated to be around 30 years old, carrying a plate of idli inside the cafe. He was also seen with a shoulder bag suspected to contain the IED bomb. Another CCTV footage showed the same suspect approaching the restaurant with a bag. After analyzing three additional CCTV videos, investigators announced on March 9 that the suspect had altered his clothing and appearance multiple times following the cafe explosion.

In the first video, the man was dressed in a shirt with long sleeves, a polo cap in a light color, eyeglasses, and a face mask. The second video showed him wearing a T-shirt with sleeves that reached halfway, colored purple, and a black cap. Although he still had the mask on, he was not wearing glasses. In the third footage, the man was not wearing either the cap or the glasses. The NIA had offered a reward of Rs 10 lakh for any information that could help in apprehending the suspect. The Rameshwaram Cafe resumed its operations on March 8th.
