Sahara Chairman Subrata Roy is no More

Subrata Roy, the founder of Sahara India Pariwar breathed his last yesterday at the age of 75 and he passed away due to prolonged illness. Sahara Group issued an official statement that said "Saharasri ji an inspirational leader and visionary, passed away on 141h November 2023 at 10.30 pm due to cardiorespiratory arrest following an extended battle with complications arising from metastatic malignancy, hypertension, and diabetes. He was admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital & Medical Research Institute (KDAH) on 12th November 2023, following a decline in health". He was born in Bihar's Araria and emerged as one of the biggest business tychoons of the country.

He started Sahara Finance and he transformed it into Sahara India Pariwar. He also launched a Hindi newspaper in 1992 with the name Rashtriya Sahara. He also started Amby Valley Project near Pune and he bought iconic properties like Grosvenor House Hotel and New York City's Plaza Hotel. Subrata Roy faced legal challenges and he failed to appear before the court in connection with a dispute with Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). He spent years in Tihar jail and was later released on parole. He received Doctorate in business leadership from the University of East London and the Business Icon of the Year award at the Powerbrands Hall of Fame Awards in London. He later started Sahara Evols through which he launched electric vehicles. He also started Edunguru which is an online education platform.
