On Saturday, a fire broke out in a tourist coach train traveling from Lucknow to Rameshwaram. According to the primary investigation, the fire accident happened near Madhurai railway station, when few of the passengers sneaked gas cylinders into the coach without permission. eight people lost their lives in this accident.
The Bharat Gaurav tourist coach was carrying the passengers of the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) tour. The incident took place at around 5:15 AM when the train reached the Madhurai Station from Lucknow. The incident occurred when the train was stopped at the Madurai Yard Junction in the early morning to get attached to the Punalur-Madurai Express.

Two coaches were completely burnt. The fire siren went off till 06:30 AM. Madhurai fire emergency rushed to the spot to control the fire. Injured were taken to the Railway hospital in the railway colony premises in the city.
The fire spread from one compartment to the other when the devotees on the train were using gas cylinders for cooking. Many passengers tried to run away, but the elderly passengers managed to escape and few succumbed to the fire. Fire came into control and the railway officials were investigating the issue.
