Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that the GDP is expected to reach the double-digit by next year and India is heading towards one of the fastest-growing economies of the globe. The economic growth in the country will be in the range of 7.5 - 8.5 percent and this will sustain for the next decade told Nirmala Sitharaman. “As regards the growth of India, we are looking at near close to double-digit growth this year and this would be the highest in the world. And for the next year, on the basis of this year, (the) growth would definitely be somewhere in the range of eight percent" told Nirmala Sitharaman. The World Bank, IMG and other agencies are near to this kind of growth number for India.

The Finance Ministry has not done any assessment about the same in the recent times. Nirmala Sitharaman also said that the growth will reach 9 percent. "I expect that to be sustained for the next decade because of the rate at which expansion in core industries is happening, the rate at which services are growing, I don't see a reason for India to be any way lesser than in the next coming decades," told Sitharaman. She also said that there is no clear picture about the entire global economy. She said that there are several countries that will record high growth rates in the coming days. When asked about the coal crisis, she called them baseless.
