The second wave of coronavirus shattered the country after there is huge scarcity of oxygen and hospital beds. Considering the Indian population, the vaccination drive is happening at a slow pace. The second wave is yet to completely calm down as there are 40,000 new cases reported in a day. The experts are now warning that the third wave of coronavirus will hit the country this month and it would climb to the peaks in October. The researchers led by Mathukumalli Vidyasagar and Manindra Agrawal at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Hyderabad and Kanpur clarified the news. The least number of daily cases reported would be 1 lakh and the wave would go up to 1.5 lakhs per day as per the report.

The third wave of coronavirus is unlikely to be as brutal as the second wave and states like Maharashtra, Kerala will play a crucial role in the total number of cases. Mathukumalli Vidyasagar earlier made predictions about the second wave through a mathematical model and he even announced that the third wave would hit the nation in the next 6-8 months if the vaccination drive will not happen at a fast pace. K VijayRaghavan, Principal Scientific Advise stated that the coronavirus mutates further and the nation should be prepared for the third wave. Though there are predictions that it may happen in September, the current situation hints that the wave will now hit the country in August for sure.

Experts also say that the third wave may not be effective if the people are strict at following the rules and the government would implement strict and effective governance.
