1 Died And 350 Hospitalised in Eluru, Illness Cause Is Still Unknown

On Sunday, over 300 people were hospitalised by an unknown illness in Eluru, Andhra Pradesh. The victims have suffered with various symptoms like nausea, fits and dizziness. The investigation has been started to know the cause behind the severe and mass illness in the town.

Many people from Eluru town were rushed to hospital and the illness is still under investigation. Andhra Pradesh is the third worst affected state by COVID in India. But the illness is not identified as COVID. All the patients were tested and the results were negative, said the deputy chief minister Alla Kali Krishna Srinivas.

The sources said that seventy people have been discharged and around 150 people are still taking the treatment.

A patient who died is identified as Sridhar from an area from Eluru. He lost his life due to the unknown disease after suffering with the symptoms of epilepsy in the morning, said his family members.

The state’s chief minister, Jaganmohan Reddy arranged the emergency medical teams to the spot for investigation. CM Reddy, visited Eluru according to the schedule to monitor the situation. His visit is to meet the medical officials and later have a conference.

Deputy Chief Minister Srinivas said that the medical officials ruled out water contamination or air pollution as the cause for illness. And he added that it is possible to know the actual case through lab analysis.

Meanwhile, the former Chief Minister and opposition Telugu Desam Party leader Chandra Babu Naidu says it is the “Govt’s negligence”. He also demanded the full fledged inquiry as a health emergency.
