PM Narendra Modi is all set to launch new fisheries scheme and a mobile app for farmers.
The digital launch of new fisheries scheme called Pradhan mantri matsya sampada yojana will happen today and the Prime Minister will also launch e-gopala app which will be a breed improvement market place.
PM Modi will also launch several other initiatives in the fisheries and animal husbandry sectors in Bihar, a state which is ready for assembly polls soon.
Narendra Modi tweeted that the Pradhan Mantri matsya sampada yojana will transform the fisheries sector and will be a major benefit to Aatma Nirbhar Bharat.
Benefits of Pradhan mantri matsya sampada yojana:
- To address gaps in the fisheries sector.
- Infuse the sector with the latest technology.
- Improve the animal husbandry sector in Bihar.
- Upgrade critical infrastructure.
- Employment creation.

The PMMSY is a flagship scheme for sustainable development in the fisheries sector with an estimated investment of Rs. 20,000 crores.
PM Modi will also announce the establishment of fish brooding bank and an aquatic disease referral laboratory at Kishanganj for which the budget has been allocated under the Pradhan Mantri matsya sampada yojana.
These facilities will help enhance the production and the productivity of the fish by ensuring timely availability of quality fish seeds for the farmers.
Meanwhile, the e-gopala app is a one in all breed improvement market place and also an information portal for the direct use of farmers.
At present, no digital platform is present for the farmers to manage livestock in the country.
Through this portal, farmers can buy and sell disease free germ plasm in all forms.
The app also guides farmers through animal nutrition and treatment of animals using appropriate medicine.
The app will provide solutions to farmers on pregnancy diagnosis, inform farmers about various government schemes and many other campaigns.
Another major launch by PM Modi is the comprehensive fish production technology center at Pusa in Bihar.
This center has facilities for seed production technology for fish, and assist in capacity building, boosting fish production for the farmers.
The Pradhan Mantri matsya sampada yojana aims at enhancing fish production by an additional 70 lakh tonnes by 2025.
