BJP minister accuses Congress of transferring PMNRF to Rajeev Gandhi Foundation:

National President of Bharatiya Janta Party, Jagat Prakash Nadda slammed the Congress Party for using the Prime Minister’s National Relief Funds in their personal foundation-Rajiv Gandhi Foundation.

Jagat Prakash Nadda in a series of tweets accused and slammed the Congress Party for such an impeccable act. He also said that one family’s hunger for wealth has cost the nation immensely. Nadda went on to write and backed his stamen with certain images as well.

The BJP president also said he party needs to apologies to the public for the ‘Unchecked loot’. He also called it using people’s money for their own self gain. The BJP president accused the party and its leaders of wrongly diverting the funds from Prime Minister’s national relief funds to Rajiv Gandhi Foundation funds. Jagat Prakash Nadda also said that the people have donated their hard-earned to the PMNRF in order to help the citizens of the country who are in need. The president also alleged that the part of this money went to their family run foundation called the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation. The Rajiv Gandhi foundation is headed by the Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

In the thread of tweets the BJP president also shared a list from 2 terms years 2005-2006 and 2007-2008. That was the list of donors and sponsors of Rajiv Gandhi Foundation in those respective years. In the list we can clearly see that, under the list of Donor’s there was one specific donor mentioned called the Prime Minister National Relief Fund (PMNRF). Those list definitely raised question of the funds people have been transferring to help those in need. This raises a lot of question on the transparency of the family run foundation by the Congress leaders.

Nadda also alleged the diversion of the funds as an act of total reprehensible, disregarding ethics and processes. In one of the tweets he also mentions that the funds that come the Prime Ministers; national relief fund throughout the year are meant to help people in distress.

The congress party and the Foundation members have not yet commented anything on these allegations made by the BJP President.

Rajiv Gandhi Foundation is headed by Sonia Gandhi who is also the president of the Congress Party. The Rajiv Gandhi Foundation was founded in the year 1991 and is named after the former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. The foundation is involved and worked on a number of critical issues including health, literacy, science and technology, women and child development among many others.

While Rajiv Gandhi Foundation is a personal family run foundation, the Prime Minister’s National relief Fund is headed by the Prime Minister of the country. The disbursement out of the fund is made at the discretion of the prime Minister. The resources of the PMNRF are utilized to render immediate relief to families of those killed in natural calamities like floods, cyclones and earthquakes, etc.

PMNRF also assists partially to defray the expenses for medical treatment like heart surgery, kidney transplantation, cancertreatment of needy people and acid attack etc.
