Locust swarms entered India and started affecting the crops in a few states. The people in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh found a way to scar swarms and drive away.
The people in both the states Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh are putting real efforts to save the crops. In Madhya Pradesh people are using the police sirens to scare the locust swarms and drive away before eating off all the crops. Rajasthan people banged utensils to scare the swarm of locusts.
Agriculture Scientist Jainendra Kanaujia said, "Locusts can be scared away by producing noise by beating drums and utensils. Chemicals, especially Chlorpyriphos 20 EC diluted in water, can be sprinkled on crops. There is a possibility of great damage to the crops due to locusts. The Agriculture Department and administration is keeping an eye on the issue”.
The method of making noise to save the crops working. The use of police sirens to scare the locusts is given by the administration- said Suman, an agriculture officer, Panna. The insects were seen in Panna Tiger Reserve yesterday and attacked the wild plants and trees.
The agriculture department of the state was monitoring the crops. Besides the state government, the additional efforts are put by four teams from the central government. They are using chemical sprays and fire brigade vehicles to break the chain of locusts swarm.
If India won't get rid of locusts soon, then food production will become a second crisis after the coronavirus pandemic. There is a chance of putting down the economic growth even more compared to now.
