Ensure Safe Passage and Emergency Treatment to the Injured: Delhi HC to Delhi Cops

The High Court of Delhi has asked the Delhi police to ensure a safe passage and to make sure that the people who are injured would get an emergency treatment as the unprecedented violence is taking place in the national capital since three days.

The violence that the north- east Delhi is witnessing since the last three days has killed thirteen people and more than 150 people have been injured which also included a child. This has occurred as the mobs rampaged through the parts in the north- east Delhi and have burnt and looted several buildings and vehicles.

The hearing has taken place at the residence of Justice S Muralidhar, by a two- judge bench of the High Court of Delhi at 12:30 am. The hearing which was done by the two- judge bench was an urgent petition which ha been seeking a safe passage to the people who are injured and also to make sure that the medical institutions with adequate facilities are made available.

The Delhi police have been asked to deploy all the resources in order to ensure the safe passage and adequate emergency medical treatment and it has also called for a compliance report which included the information regarding the people who have been injured and the treatment that is being offered to them.

The court has also said that the order has to be communicated to the medical superintendents of the two hospitals in Delhi were majority of the people who have been injured in the violence were rushed to, which were Guru Tegh Bahadur (GTB) and Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP).

It has been said that the case would again be taken up by the court today in the noon at around 2:15 pm.

A meeting has been chaired with the cops and the officials, by the Home Minister Amit Shah on the evening of Tuesday. This meeting is said to be a third meet in just 24 hours as the violence has not decreased but instead it has been spiraling up.

SN Srivastava who is an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer and who has been appointed as the special police commissioner has also attended the meeting which was chaired by the Home Minister Amit Shah.

In order to take stock of the situation of law and order, Ajit Doval who is the National Security Advisor has visited the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police of North- east Delhi.

It has been said earlier by the Home Ministry that the situation in the North- East Delhi has come under control even as it has been observed that there was an increase in the number of people being killed and injured kept increasing all through the day.

The Home Ministry has also said that enough police and paramilitary personnel were on the ground.

The Delhi police had made an appeal to the people of Delhi to ignore the unverified messages and the rumors related to the violence, that are being spread and getting viral over social media platforms.
