Government of India lifts Ban on Export of Surgical masks and gloves

The changes have been made in list of the export items that were banned due to the outbreak of the deadly novel coronavirus in China.

The government of India has insisted a ban on exports of all kinds of personal protection equipments which included clothing as well as masks that are being used by the people in order protect themselves from being affected by the deadly novel coronavirus that is being spread rapidly across the nations.

The move of removing surgical masks and gloves from the list of banned export items has been made assuming that there could be an increasing rate in the demand for the surgical masks/ disposable masks.

The directorate general for foreign trade (DGFT) has said in a notification that the items such as surgical masks/ disposable masks and all the gloves except the Nitrile Butadiene Rubber gloves are allowed freely for the export.

The notification has also clarified that the export of all the other personal protection equipment which includes N-95 and other equipment accompanying masks and the gloves would be remained prohibited for the exports.

The notification by the directorate general for foreign trade (DGFT) which has removed the ban on the export of the medical masks and the gloves has been dated as 8th of the month February, 2020 where as the export of these items has been earlier banned on 31st of January, 2020.

Based on the reports of the agency from Beijing, the novel coronavirus that has emerged in the central China has killed more than 800 people and has spread across the globe. However, according to the latest records, it has been said that nearly 37,200 people are infected in the country.
