The Indian Americans have celebrated the 71st Republic Day celebrations in Washington DC outside the country’s embassy. Anti-India slogans have been raised by a dozen of pro- Khalistani supporters as they tried to dampen the spirits of the Indian Americans who have celebrating the 71st Republic Day of India.

Attempts have been made by the pro- Khalisthani supports who were about 10 to 12 in number, in order to burn the tri- color along with the copies of Indian Constitution as they have been reciting the slogans against India.

The pro- Khalistani groups have misused the freedom that has been provided by the United States which says that raising slogans and demonstrating against a country is not unlawful. This has been taken as an advantage by the pro- Khalistani supporters for decades and have made regular attempts to embarrass the Indian events that take place in Washington.

The 71st Republic Day of India has been celebrated in Washington at the Indian Embassy with the tri- color being unfurled by Deputy Indian Ambassador to the United States Amit Kumar. Amit Kumar has read out the Republic Day address that has been done by the President of India Ram Nath Kovind which has been delivered on the eve of Republic Day.

The students of Gandharva School of Music in Richmond has sung patriotic songs before the tricolor has been hoisted. Floral tributes has been made to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi that is situated in front of the embassy, by the Indian diplomat.

The enthusiastic Indian Americans and the family members of the officials of Indian Embassy have also enthralled the audience by the cultural program and their performances.
