Antonio Costa, the Prime Minister of Portugal is to be visiting India for two days i.e.,December 19,20 as stated by the Ministry of External Affairs on Monday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended an invitation to the Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Costa to attend the celebration of 150th Birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on which second meeting of the Organizing Committee has been scheduled which is on December 19 2019.

“Prime Minister of Portugal Antonio Costa will be visiting India on a working visit from 19-20 December on an invitation extended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend the second meeting of the Organising Committee on the celebrations for the 150th Birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on 19 December 2019. The Organizing Committee meeting would be presided over by the President of India.”

Officials talks will be held between Costa and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 19. This meet will be the third official meeting between the Prime Ministers in the span of three years says the MEA statement.

The visit of Costa to India on December 19 will be his first bilateral visit outside Europe after 6th October 2019, when he has been re-elected as Prime Minister.

India and Portugal political exchanges has imparted bilateral relations that included new areas and this visit provides another opportunity to leaders for re-looking in to the areas of mutual interest.

“The high-level political exchanges between India and Portugal have imparted a robust momentum to bilateral relations, including in several new areas such as science and technology, defence, startups, shipping, youth exchanges and culture. This visit would provide another opportunity to the leaders to review the whole gamut of bilateral relations and forge closer cooperation in the areas of mutual interest,” said MEA.
