Ahead of he 2019 Lok Sabha Elections Former Indian Cricketer Gautam Gambhir Joins Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today in New Delhi, says inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi Vision.
He Joined the party in the presence of Union Ministers and senior BJP leaders Arun Jaitley and Ravi Shankar Prasad.
Speaking to reporters after joining the BJP, Gautam Gambhir said "I thank the party for giving me this opportunity. I am joining this party after being inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision. It's an opportunity for me to do something for my countrymen. I look forward to doing my best."
Arun Jaitley refused to confirm on which constituency the party will field him in the election, he said "Let's leave it to the country's Election Committee. For now we are happy he joined the party.”
According to reports, the 37-year-old former cricketer may contest in 2019 Lok Sabha Elections from one of the constituency from Delhi. He is very vocal on social issues and he puts forward his opinion frequently on social media.
The former opening batsman was conferred India’s fourth highest civilian award, the Padma Shri award this year.
And was part of the world cup winning team in 2007 and 2011 and his performances in 2007 T20 world cup final against Pakistan and in 2011 world cup final against Srilanka helped India win the titles.
Gautam Gambhir announced his retirement from all forms of cricket in December last year.
