Jammu & Kashmir Administration Withdraws Security Cover For Separatist Leaders

Jammu and Kashmir administration on Sunday withdraws security cover for five separatist leaders, including Mirwaiz Umar Farooq days after Pulwama Terror Attack.

Apart from Mirwaiz, the security cover has also been withdrawn for Abdul Gani Bhat, , Hashim Qureshi, Shabir Shah and Bilal Lone 

As per the Jammu and Kashmir order, “The Government is issuing orders withdrawing all security and any government facilities provided to the following separatist leaders namely Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Abdul Ghani Bhat, Hashim Quershi, Bilal Lone and Shabir Shah.”

According to the order, it says all security and vehicles provided to the separatists will stand withdrawn by today evening.

And there will be no security forces or cover will be provided, under any pretext, to them or any other separatists, said the order

The government administration also said “Police will review if there are any other separatists who have security or facilities which will be withdrawn immediately.”

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh,when he visited Srinagar on Friday to review the security situation after terror attack said that “Some elements in J&K have links with the ISI and terrorist organisations. Their security should be reviewed.”

After the decision, Hurriyat Conference in a statement said, “The government decided on its own to provide security to separatist leaders which was never demanded in the first place. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in fact said many times during his Friday sermons that he wanted withdrawal of the security cover.”
