Based on “A Song of Ice and Fire” The Game of Thrones has been a very successful franchise, with the show’s tremendous popularity and upcoming season 7 in June, the franchise has come up with many made for fans material. Among all the merchandise a good old card and board game did not seem to have been left out. In August last year the franchise has introduced “Game of Thrones: Hand of the King” card game. It is a card game where Lord Jon Varys is the central character, and his card is used to gain power over all the royal houses of Westeros, to ultimately win.
CNET has now reviewed Game of Thrones: Hand of the King, and explained it in a video. Watch the video, below:
While describing the game, CNET says:
The game is a tabletop that works a bit like a competitive sliding puzzle. Players move the Lord Varys tile around a 6x6 grid, scooping up family members belonging to the royal houses of Westeros. Whoever has the most members of a given house controls it, and the player who controls over the majority Houses wins.
It sounds really easy to play and it is, it is also diabolical once players start making short-lived alliances, moving to block opponents players and a player has to think as many as moves ahead without losing the plot completely.
The game is really funny. Game of Thrones: Hand of the King card game costs about $12.95 in the U.S. over at Fantasy Flight Games, and it sounds like a perfect gift this holiday season.
