Aurora police department said a body of 6 year old boy was found in park pond on Tuesday morning and it is believed to be the body of the missing aurora boy, who went missing on new year’s eve not far from where he reportedly disappeared.

On the fourth day of search diver crew began to check the pond at Olympic Park at East Yale Avenue and South Chambers Road  for David Puckett a six year old, who was last seen at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at his home in the 15700 block of East Amherse Place.

Crews found the body just before 10 a.m., and later the park and Yale Avenue were completely shut down.

Police chief Nick Metz said no positive identification of the body has been made yet, but the family of David Puckett has been informed.

The area around the pond is investigated as a crime scene, but there are no clear indications to believe it's anything but an accident, Metz said.

Metz said around 150 officers from numerous law enforcement search agencies and around 200 people volunteered to  search for the boy.

"we have a very unfortunate news of letting you know that in a pond ... that we have found the body of what appears to be a child inside the pond underneath the ice," Metz said at a press conference. "At this time, we cannot give a positive indication of the child. However, because of this information and our suspicion, we had the unfortunate experience of having to inform David's family of what we had found."

Metz said that it will take little time to produce a positive identification of the body. Metz said a thorough investigation will be conducted to determine what occurred.

"Though we do not have any positive identification, the family is shattered," Metz said.

hounds were brought early in the investigation, but a speciality dog was brought in Monday night and it gave indications around the pond. Firefighters went into the water Tuesday morning and found the body, Metz said.

He also added the area was largely searched since Saturday, but there were no indications of broken ice.

"Even the family members said they had gone around pond and even they did not see anything," Metz said.
