State police are in charge of the search for a missing Aurora boy and have asked local residents to temporarily stop walking around the area in their efforts to help out with the search. That is because search dogs are now trying to sniff out the boy’s scent.
Police spokesperson Crystal McCoy said that they have deployed the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children ‘hounds’ today, so police are asking the citizens to stop their search in the area, so that it could not impact the validity of the search for the hounds.
David Puckett a six year old boy went missing on Saturday near Olympic park in Aurora, his mother reported to police that he was weaning black boots, camouflage and a black jacket.
Puckett studies in Dartmouth Elementary School and has a slight learning disability. Puckett once wandered off from school, and the police are investigating this case under the assumption that he wandered off from home.
On Monday the Colorado Bureau of Investigation issued a ’Child Abduction Emergency’ in the case, something that was delayed initially part because there was no immediate evidence that there was an abduction.
“Police is very concerned about Puckett. They are all cold standing here bundled up, so the weather and the amount of time is increasingly concerning to police and that is why the CBI has issued this ‘Child Abduction Emergency’ for us today,” McCoy said.
The hounds are currently searching within approximately 2.5 miles radius.
“Police are continuing to do thorough searches of the neighborhoods, canvas searches, and also some interviews,” McCoy said.
Multiple search agencies are now being involved in the search, including the FBI and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
McCoy said “People might encounter with the FBI in their neighborhood today,”.
