
Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte is all set to visit Cambodia and Singapore this month. He is scheduled to go on a two-day state visit to Cambodia on December 13 and 14.
Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Charles Jose said that, the President will hold a bilateral meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen. Then, Duterte will leave to Singapore on December 15 and 16.
The Philippine President is visiting member-countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in order to fulfill his obligation as head of the ASEAN Summit. The Philippines will be hosting the yearly summit in 2017.
Duterte will join Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong in a bilateral meeting. Lee is the son of Singapore's founding father and first prime minister Lee Kuan Yew.
According to the DFA, about 180,000 Filipinos live in Singapore and the country was also the Philippines' 4th largest trading partner in 2015, with trade between the two nations amounting to around $8.4 billion.
