A Muslim school teacher received an anonymous note which said her headscarf was not "allowed anymore," and asked her to hang herself with it. The not found in her classroom in the US state of Georgia.
Just days after the surprise victory of Republican Donald Trump, Mairah Teli uploaded a photograph of the hand-written note to her Facebook account. Trump once infamously called for a ban on Muslims entering the United States during his presidential campaign.
Teli wrote in her post that, "As a Muslim, I wear a headscarf as a practice of my faith. I want to share this to raise awareness about the reality and climate of our community. Spreading hate isn't going to "make America great again."
Later, she published another post in which she she said, she is receiving messages of support "from all over the country." Her school, Dacula High, had been "working tirelessly" to identify the person who'd written the offensive message, she added.
A report in the Independent newspaper alleges that, Muslims were robbed or had their hijabs ripped off by Trump backers have surfaced since the New York billionaire became the President-elect of the world's oldest representative democracy.
