Cambridge Side Galleria evacuated!!!

A huge crowd of young people who gathered to meet a Boston Celtics player and a rap artist turned out to be unruly and had been evacuated from the CambridgeSide Galleria mall on Monday night.

Some people threw bricks and glass while the police had to use pepper spray to control the crowd.

Around 1,000 people had been forced to leave the mall after the certain disturbance, that broke out around 5:50 PM as reported by Cambridge and State police.

The crowd converged on Champs Sports on the third floor in the mall to see Celtics rookie Jaylen Brown and Desiigner.

Cambridge police said , “The ticketed event was disrupted when a large contingent of attendees surged forward, knocking over barriers and individuals waiting in line,”.

“Officers had been targeted with glass, bricks, and other objects while trying to spread the crowd outside of the Galleria. No injuries had been reported . According to the the statement ,  “Select attendees were treated after being exposed to OC [pepper] spray, which was used by police to manage and disperse the crowd inside the mall after the crowds grew more aggressive.”

State Police spokesman David Procopio, said that the disturbance started inside the mall and had been spilled outside later. He said that the crowd had been “getting combative and hostile” while Cambridge police sought assistance.
