Massachusetts State Senator Ken Donnelly underwent Brain surgery

Surgeons have removed a tumor from the brain of Massachusetts State Senator Ken Donnelly. According to a statement released on Tuesday evening, the surgery had been successful and the doctors expected a quick recovery.

Donnelly had been admitted to Massachusetts General Hospital on Sunday night. More details about his condition were not disclosed at that time. This happened while his legislative colleagues were racing against a midnight deadline to strike deals on several bills before the end of the session.

Donnelly represents the Fourth Middlesex district, that includes Arlington, Billerica, Burlington, and most of Lexington and Woburn.

According to Tuesday's statement, his doctors were satisfied with the outcome of the surgery and the senator is now under complete bed rest. A post was made in his official facebook page, “ Thank you to everyone who called, emailed, texted, tweeted, facebook’d, and sent their good thoughts and prayers to Senator Donnelly and his family. Senator Donnelly underwent successful brain surgery today where doctors removed a tumor. His medical team is very pleased with the outcome of the surgery and he is resting comfortably. The family is overwhelmed with all the love and support they have received. Please keep all the positive energy flowing in his direction. We will update you when we have information on where to send cards, etc.”
