A program was hosted by the Hindu American Foundation (HAF) in San Francisco to spread awareness about Hinduism and build relations with various communities in the United States.
The function was held on July 16 at the Taj Campton Place in San Francisco. The event included speeches on a variety of subjects in the realm of spirituality and religion. The event was witnessed by prestigious speakers like Samir Kalra, senior director and Mihir Menghani, co-founder of HAF and Barbara McGraw, director of Center for Engaged Religious Pluralism at Saint Mary's College of California.
Suhag Shukla, the executive director of HAF has been actively involved in HAF's functions. "The ability is to articulate the correct views of Hinduism among society," Shukla said.
Arjun Bhagat, a core member of the foundation, said that the "huge" redwood tree in his backyard paints the picture of Christianity in the US. However, he said that all other religions do matter and make a big difference to the beauty of the backyard.
One of the most important things to note from this event was that HAF does not seek to convert people to Hinduism. The HAF rather tackles the misconception behind Hinduism and corrects it at a grassroots level. The HAF also seeks to establish a common meeting ground for members of this generation and the upcoming Hindu-Americans so as to maintain a strong foothold in the Christian-dominated country.
