I ndia has asserted the necessity for united efforts to combat terrorism and said that the countries supporting terrorism must be ‘named and shamed’. S. Jaishankar, Foreign Secretary, has stated this at a security conference, referring to Pakistan. He also said that some countries are in “delusion” that they can buy peace at home by supporting terror outfits outside. However, he did not name any country. He added that India will be continuously in touch with Pak regarding the terror attack probe on the attack that happened on IAF base in Pathankot, previous month.

Mr. Jaishankar said at the Counter Terrorism Conference 2016, “Nations which support terrorism must be named and shamed.” He called for greater international cooperation in combating terrorism. He also pointed out that even terror victims fail to co-operate in fighting terror on international stage. According to Mr. Jaishankar, solidarity must be shown by governments through a united message to condemn terror attacks.

“Since Pathankot attack happened, we have been in touch with Pakistan. We have been in touch at my level and the NSA level because only by remaining in touch, we can expect them to progress on the basis of information which we have provided to them,” Mr. Jaishankar said.

The Foreign Secretary said while talking on terrorism in eastern parts of India that the Indian government had discussions concerning fighting terrorism with Myanmar and said that there is a greater responsiveness to the India’s concerns.

“We had some problems with Myanmar and we have also some discussions with them. Some developments took place in the last few months and possibility of terror attacks occurring in the East from beyond the border would come down,” he added.
