It is known that Janata Dal-United's Nitish Kumar and his Grand Alliance with Lalu Prasad stormed into power in Bihar in 2015 polls. Nitish Kumar has sworn in as Chief Minister on Friday, at Patna's sprawling Gandhi Maidan, for the record fifth time.

The oath of office was taken by Nitish and secrecy in the name of God in Hindi, as Governor Ram Nath Kovind had overseen it. Also, Tejashwi Yadav and Tej Pratap Yadav, sons of Lalu Prasad, also took their oath as ministers. Tejashwi Yadav is likely to be the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar. Witnessing the rise of his two sons in Bihar politics, Lalu Prasad sat along with his wife and Rabri Devi, Former Chief Minister, and daughter Misa Bharti.

A galaxy of opposition leaders attended the show, from all through India. Eminent personalities present for the event include Former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, number of Chief Ministers, Mamata Banerjee, Arvind Kejriwal, Virbhadra Singh, Tarun Gogoi, besides several party chiefs and senior leaders.

JD-U state President Vashisht Narain Singh said, "Such a thing has never happened. It is the beginning of opposition unity in the country."

The Bihar campaign was led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from the front. Union minister Venkaiah Naidu represented Modi on the dais. A 17-year-old alliance with BJP was broken by Nitish in 2013, after the party declared Modi as prime ministerial candidate in the previous national elections.
