Due to an active volcano on the nearby island, the Ngurah Rai International Airport was closed by the local authorities late Tuesday. Large ash cloud was drifting from volcano Mount Rinjani.
According to sources, Rajan is expected to be deported on Thursday based on conditions. Earlier on 25 October, Rajan was arrested in Bali on his arrival from Australia. The Indian agencies are keen and are looking at the deportation to take place at the earliest.
On Sunday, an Indian police team arrived in Indonesia and finished all the formalities to take Rajan into their custody and fly him to India. Already, the documents were provided by the Indian authorities to their Indonesian counterparts regarding Rajan’s Indian identity facilitating deportation.
Even though Chhota Rajan’s deportation was delayed from Bali on Tuesday, a lot of speculation went on over where he would be taken first after returning to India.
The Hindu quoted Mumbai Police Commissioner Ahmed Javed that “though eventually Chhota Rajan will be brought to Mumbai, it will be the Central Bureau of Investigation [CBI] which will take a final call on his custody.”
