India, Myanmar agreed to jointly fight "terrorism and insurgent activity in all its forms and manifestations", during the first high level visit from Myanmar after India's military operation inside that country to destroy insurgent camps.
Myanmar foreign minister U Wunna Maung Lwin had discussions with Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj in New Delhi. India has reaffirmed its commitment to support the modernization of the Myanmar army, besides helping in building up a navy for Myanmar. Earlier, Myanmar Foreign Minister met Indian Prime Minister Modi and NSA Ajit Doval.
A joint statement that was issued after the meeting decided on few things:
1. Regular meetings of the bilateral Regional Border Committee would be held for better border management.
2. Negotiations should begin on "a bilateral MoU on Movement of People across the Land Border."
3. “India -Myanmar Joint Boundary Working Group, with a mandate to address all outstanding boundary issues" would resolve the unsettled boundary pillars.
