Palmdale gas station has been placed under investigation after a lottery ticket which could have earned a reward of $75000 to its rightful holder. California lottery official said the winner was actually a state inspector who has received only $75 instead of $75, 000. The surveillance video of the station has been checked to reward him his rightful earning.

The video shows a man in a brown short sleeved shirt and backward baseball cap waiting as the clerk examines the ticket and hands over cash.

“Since the store held onto the ticket, it appears the ticket was mishandled,” Russell Lopez, a spokesman for the lottery said in a brief statement to a tabloid.

“We are currently investigating this case.”

Further adding, Lopez said, the California State Lottery Act requires year round observance in order to protect the business, the players and retailers.

Chevron station manager, Shamsun Islam said the clerk realized his mistake after the apparent ticket holder left.

“He feels so bad,” Islam said.

“I talk to him. I show him the video,” said Islam. “He said ‘OK this is a true mistake.'”
