Congress party vice president Rahul Gandhi, who has become more energetic after his 56 day sabbatical, has started his day-long ‘padyatra’ (foot march) in the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra. He arrived in Nagpur Airport around 10 pm on Wednesday, a day before the ‘padyatra’ schedule to highlight the suicide of the poor farmers.
Party workers have welcomed the leader with loud slogans hailing him and a rally. The Member of Parliament from Amethi constituency has accepted garlands and bouquets from Congress leaders and activists; he was received at the airport by Maharashtra Congress President Ashok Chavan, former MP Vilas Muttemwar, ex-Minister Anees Ahmed and Nagpur city Congress chief Vikas Thakre.
The Vidarbha region, Telangana region, Bundhelkhand and some parts of India have witness huge loss of farmers due to their suicides over poor yield, crop loss, ineffective relief schemes and drought situation.
Though the congress party is welcoming the decision taken by its future chief, other political parties and common people are criticizing him for not taking the same stand during their reign in centre for 10 years and in states for around 15 years.
Rahul Gandhi has been wondering the parliamentarians and other politicians with his mesmerizing speeches in parliament and other platforms over Land acquisition bill, Net neutrality, farmers suicides, and Make In India mission.
