Jitender Singh Tomar, the law minister in Delhi's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, is in trouble after the High Court was told that there is no record of his law degree. A Bihar university has filed an inquiry report in the court stating that Mr Tomar's provisional certificate is "fabricated and doesn't exist in the university's record." The Tilak Manjhi Bhagalpur University said that the serial number on Mr Tomar's purported certificate threw up a "different person's name from a different stream." The university also alleged that its records had been tampered with.

Jitender Singh Tomar, the law minister in Delhi's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government rejected the calls for his resignation. "A fabricated case based on lies cannot be the reason to resign. My degree is 100 per cent genuine, I have all documents to prove it," Mr Tomar told. A court had earlier asked another institution, the Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University in Uttar Pradesh, to confirm his graduation degree in science after similar allegations.

AAP’s lawministers are also law breakers. Jitender Singh Tomar is AAP's second law minister to embarrass the party. AAP's previous law minister Somnath Bharti was excoriated last year for his ill-advised midnight raid at a south Delhi colony that targeted Nigerian women.
