Foreign Secretary - level talks between India and Pakistan after a gap of two and half years, indicating the restoration of friendly environment. Working together for narrowing the differences and to find viable instrument, is vital for maintaining good relation between the neighboring countries.
Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar met his Pakistan counterpart Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry in Islamabad on Tuesday. During their meeting they have come across the crucial lines viz, cross-border terrorism, including the Mumbai terror trial, and violations along the Line of Control. And the Pakistan side also mentioned issues of Kashmir, the Samjhauta Express attack and the Indian involvement in Balochistan and FATA.
According to media reports Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif reiterated his vision of “peace for development” when Jaishankar called on him, and reportedly discussed with Indian envoy to start a new chapter in their relationship to resolve the outstanding issues through dialogue by thinking together, acting together and moving forward with the spirit of bringing the two nations closer to each other.
Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar visited Pakistan in part of his SAARC yatra, but had a formal dialogue and handed over a letter from PM Narendra Modi to Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif.
The last Foreign Secretary-level talks were held two-and-a-half years ago, in September 2012, and the scheduled talks in August 2014 were cancelled. Regular meetings and exchanging the dialogues with development orientation and peace restoration can help both the nations to grow together.
