Ehab Aly Mohammad, a cosmetic surgeon was sentenced to 5 years in prison for botched liposuction on a 61-yr- old woman. The operation went on for 10-hours with inadequate and ill-trained staffs. In a bid to strip Mohammad of his license, Medical Board of California accused him of failing to inform the patients about the risk of treatment, lack of equipments required in the procedure. On January 21, he had been convicted in two other cases involving an involuntary manslaughter as well as elder abuse killing while injuring one patient.

As per the official records Mohammad, 48 had administered lethal cocktail of drugs (lidocaine, fentanyl, and oxycodone) on Sharon Carpenter, during the 22, August, 2010, procedure in the office.

Liposuction, also called lipoplasty is a cosmetic surgery where excess fat from various parts of the body, commonly abdomen, neck, chin, and calves are taken and is inserted into the required part of the skin through a hollow instrument called cannula. It is a common cosmetic surgery among woman obsessed with looks. Over 400,000 procedures are carried out in USA every year.

In year 2013, the cosmetic-minimally-invasive procedure had increased by 3 percent as stated by (American Society Plastic Surgeon) ASPS President Robert X. Murphy, MD

With the increase in demand, women are directed to ill-trained cosmetic surgeons operating at low cost, risking themselves to lifelong health issues.
