Telangana became India's 29th state officially at midnight (from 00:01 hours) of June 2. People celebrated the historic moment with bursting of crackers and wished everyone on the happy occassion.
K Chandrasekhar Rao, the leader of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), has been sworn in as the first Chief Minister of Telangana at around 8.15 am. 
And ESL Narasimhan was sworn in the first Governor of Telangana earlier in the morning. President's rule, that had been imposed in the state after Kiran Kumar Reddy resigned as chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, has been revoked by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.
Later in the day, KCR (as K Chandrasekhar Rao is popularly known) will meet his new cabinet. After that the new chief minister will address the newly formed state.

Area
Telangana is the 13th largest state in India in terma of area. It has 1.14 lakh square kilometre.
Population
According to the 2011 census, it has a population of 3.52 Crore. At present Telangana is home to 41% of the population of Andhra Pradesh state.
Districts
Hyderabad, Adilabad, Karimnagar, Khammam, Mahbubnagar, Medak, Nalgonda, Nizamabad, Rangareddy and Warangal.
