Care to meet an alien? Yes. Wait for another 20 years. You could possibly be sitting face to face interacting with one of them.
Scientists today no longer argue whether there are aliens out there or not. Today, the discussion focuses on when can we meet a real alien? Astronomers have announced that we can meet aliens in another 20 years, probably living in other worlds (planets other than Earth).
Astronomers believe that there could be existing life on other planets and probably after 20 years we can find them.
Senior astronomer Seth Shostak, attached to California' SETI Institute in US, reportedly said that in at least a half-dozen other worlds (planets other than the Earth) could possibly hold life in the solar system.
Shostak says the chances of finding aliens are good. And it could be in the next 20 years, that is, if they get financing. His opinion was made at a Congressional science committee in Washington.
At present, scientists are looking for evidence of alien life in the universe. Three paths are being followed in their search.
The most prominent being the looking for traces of life on Mars and the Moon.
Another group of scientists have focussed their attention of scanning the atmosphere of these planets. They have placed their hope on finding traces of oxygen or methane, gases that are tied to life on earth.
The third group is looking for technologically advanced aliens. This group believes that if such aliens exist they may be sending radio or other signals into space.
Shostak says that so far scientists have not found anything, but that doesn't means anything. The search has just begun, added Shostak.
What if scientists manage to find life in the other world? How will we, earthlings, communicate with them? Will it be simple or complicated? There will be lots of questions which will probably be answered if and whenever we meet aliens.
