The statue of Virgin Mary in a small town in northern Israel 'weeps' oil. The residents of the family to whom the statue belong believe it to be a miracle.

Following the news of the weeping Virgin Mary statue, believers have been flocking the home of the christian family in hundreds. The family, residing Tarshiha near the Lebanon border, say that they have witnessed a miracle in their home.

On Tuesday, Osama Khoury said that his wife Amira recently found the statue of Virgin Mary 'covered in oil'. According to Amira the statue "spoke to her" and asked her not to be scared. The word spread when the oil was witnessed by a neighbour of the family.

Apparently, parts of the statue remain slick with moisture, even though it has been wiped off. The family reportedly stated that "tear" roll down the cheeks of the statue that looks striking. Over the last week more than 2,000 people have reportedly visited the family to witness the miracle of the weeping statue.
