Police custody of Tarun Tejpal, the founder editor of Tehelka has been extended by four days by a court in Goa. Tejpal has been arrested for sexually assaulting a junior colleague in a lift of a Goa hotel. Meanwhile, Shoma Chaudhury's, former managing editor of Tehelka, statement is being recorded by a Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) in Panaji.

On Friday the statement of three colleagues of Shoma were recorded. The victim of sexual assault had first complained to Shoma in an email. Its copies were forwarded to some other colleagues in Tehelka office, out of which one leaked and the issue became public. Following which the Goa government filed an FIR against Tejpal, taking suo moto cognizance of the matter. In the FIR Tejpal was charged of rape under the new law passed post-Nirbhaya incident.

50-year-old Tejpal was arrest on November 30, a day after he was sent to police custody for six days which was to end on Saturday. Today's extension of Tejpal's custody will end his remand on December 11.
