With the year 2013 gradually drawing to its close (just 46 more days to go for the New Year), it's survey time now! A Texas based company — the Global Language Monitor — conducted an annual survey in three separate categories: names, words and phrases and the results are nothing, but amazing!

As per the annual survey report, the most talked about name in 2013 isn't the U.S. President Obama neither the royal Prince George nor pop bad girl Miley Cyrus! In fact, it's the 76-year-old pontiff, Pope Francis, who beat all of the internet’s big shots and bad boys to emerge as the most talked about names in 2013. He outclassed Edward Snowden, Kate Middleton and President Obama to emerge as “talking point” among the netizens.

But the “revelation” don't end there. According to the survey results, the top used word of the year was “404” (the code that pops up on screens when an Internet page cannot be found) while the most used phrase was “Toxic Politics”.

Researchers at the Texas-based GLM based their rankings on the number of times these name, word and phrase appeared in English blogs, across social media, and the top 275,000 print and electronic media organizations.
