OTT turned out to be a convenient option for many and after the arrival of the coronavirus pandemic, several families are watching films on the digital platforms instead of heading for theatres as it is a safe bet. After the arrival of coronavirus, the audience got addicted to digital platforms. Tollywood is in a huge relief after the audience rushed to theatres to watch films. But the early digital release is not a great sign for the future.

Some of the filmmakers are inking deals for an early digital release after the OTT platforms are offering huge prices. The flop films in theatres too are heading for an early digital release. A section of the audience are not ready to head to theatres with this move as they can watch the films comfortably at home after waiting for a week or two. This will surely have an impact on the theatrical collections for those films that receive poor to average response. For blockbuster films, there won't be any impact on the footfalls.

Though the producers decided not to release the film before 56 days of the theatrical release, the rule is never implemented in the recent months. Hope the filmmakers consider all the facts in the future before they close the digital deals.
