Story
Rudhramadevi is the story of warrior queen Rani Rudhramadevi and how she ruled the dynasty of Kakathiyas. The story starts when Rudhramadevi’s father Ganapthi Devudu (Krishnam Raju) and his kingdom expects a baby boy. The minister Shiva Devayya (Prakash Raj) introduces Rudhramadevi as Rudra Deva. The movie takes many turns when Rudra Deva faces many problems because of his identity. Gona Gannareddy (Allu Arjun) locks horns with Rudra Deva fighting for the people of the Kakathiya kingdom. The rest of movie is how Rudra Deva turns as Rudhramadevi and the relation between Rudhramadevi and Gona Gannareddy is. Watch the film to know about the rest.
Analysis :
The first half of the movie is completely impressive in all the aspects except the music. Anushka and Allu Arjun’s performances take the movie to the next level. The huge and lavish sets along with the graphics are a visual treat throughout. The narration has been flawless and the action episodes have been shot well. The songs are the major drawback for the movie and on the whole the complete first half of Rudhramadevi has been impressive.
The second half of the movie takes a dip during the first part. The slow narration makes the audience feel bored throughout. The songs test the patience of the audience and the movie catches pace during the pre-climax episodes which are the highlights of the film. The climax of the film has been predictable and simple. On the whole the second half has been slow and it will not be accepted by all the classes of the audience.
Performance :
Anushka is sure one of the best performers of Tollywood and she will be the only choice for the role of Rudhramadevi. Everyone will accept this fact after watching the movie. Her presence on screen has been stunning and terrific throughout. Rana Daggubati has done one more decent and supporting role in the movie. He has been energetic. Allu Arjun will surprise everyone as Gona Gannareddy in the movie and he is one of the highlights of the movie. Prakash Raj has done one more crucial role and he happened to be the one who reveals many surprises in the film. Suman, Krishnam Raju, Vikramjeet, Catherine, Nithya Menon and all others have been adequate in their assigned roles.
The story of the movie has many interesting things to reveal as the life story of Rani Rudhramadevi has not been complete anywhere. Gunasekhar has done lot of research on the movie and the screenplay along with the dialogues has been ok. The music is the major downfall for the movie and all the songs have been visually good but poor in melody. The cinematography has been decent throughout and the graphics along with the huge sets have been grand enough. The production values have been lavish and Gunasekhar succeeded in narrating the life story of Rani Rudhramadevi but the movie lacked the needed pace.
Final Word:
Rudhramadevi is a periodic drama that has grand visuals and terrific performances by Anushka and the team. But the slow narration and execution makes the film just ok.
