The Indian Space Research Organization has unveiled the first woman astronaut which is said to be a part of the Gaganyaan unmanned mission. The robot prototype has been unveiled to an international gathering in Bengaluru on Wednesday.

Vyom Mithra has created a sensation as she had showed off her conversational skills where in she has introduced herself to the Chairman of ISRO K Sivan and the Principal Scientific Adviser K. Vijay Raghavan.

The robot spoke in a heavy Indian accent where she added saying that she can respond to the queries and be a companion and converse with the astronauts. She detailed the functions that she can perform like switching panel operations, the functions of Environment Control and Life Support Systems (ECLSS).

The robot Vyom Mithra is said to be a half humanoid as the robot doesn’t have legs. K. Sivan has said that, the robot can chat with the astronauts but she is not built to be one among them

Dr. Sivan has said that the human functions will be stimulated by the humanoid and has specified that the human functions are that which are required for space before the real astronauts take off before August 2022. he has added saying that two trial flights will be taking place before the actual flight. The trial flights will be made without crew but with a humanoid. The first trial flight is scheduled for December 2020 and the second trial flight is scheduled for July 2021.

Vyom Mitra will be sent by Indian Space Research Organization by the end of 2020 or during the start of 2021, in a space capsule in order to study the life in zero- gravity conditions as the ISRO would observe how the half humanoid would respond to living outside the earth in the conditions of controlled zero- gravity.

The IISU Director D. Sam Dayala Dev has said that Vyom Mitra can detect the changes in the environment and can give out warnings if the environmental changes within the cabinet would turn uncomfortable to astronauts and can also change the air condition. He added saying that the postures suited for launch and tasks can be taken up by Vyom Mitra who can also take commands.

Kailasavadivoo Sivan has confirmed that Chandrayaan 3 which is a third lunar mission will be initiated and the launch could take place as early as this year for which the ISRO has decided in sending a female humanoid robot named Vyom Mitra in an unmanned mission which will be a part of the Gaganyaan project which would be sending Indian astronauts to space.
