Microsoft is all set to give the world a sneak peek of its Windows 9, codenamed Threshold next month.
Microsoft's new platform is likely to bring back most of the familiar Windows attributes to the ground along with a wad of other new features. We list some of the news that could be a part of “Threshold”.
The Windows 9 will revive the Start Menu. Plus, it will also have windowed apps as well as some under the hood kernel changes.
The Windows 9 will come sans the Charms bar. But it will have virtual desktops feature for enterprise and power customers. Clearly, looks like Microsoft masterplan to keep desktop users from straying to rival or mobile platforms.
The shutdown option is also likely to return on Start. The Start screen could also be improved to boot straight into the Desktop.
The new improved Windows 9 OS will also bring along a more familiar task bar that is said to unify the old and new user interface.
Although the OS was slated for release on 2015, seems like the users will get a early preview of it very soon. If the chatter around the web is anything to go by, then Microsoft will drop a preview of Windows 9 on September 30 or early October.
