Someone has rightly said, "Imitation is the best form of flattery!" After all, what could be more flattering for Facebook than it's closest rival Twitter imitating it's desktop design. Yes, you heard that right!

Twitter has rolled out a new look which looks dangerously similar to Facebook. The redesigned desktop page  includes features such as a wider cover photo, Facebook- and Pinterest-style cards and new content tabs.

During its most recent earnings report, Twitter revealed that its timeline views had come down significantly  and user numbers seemed to be be slowing down as well. This compelled them to look for inspiration in competitor sites.

Twitter's new look is being rolled in stages. Cover photos, which was introduced in September 2012, now appears full-width. The profile picture, which used to adorn the centre of the cover image has been shifted to left. Even user's bio has been moved to below the profile picture.

Lists of tweets that appeared on the right-hand side of the profile now sports a series of separate cards of varying shapes and sizes.
