After leading the T20 series against South Africa by 1-0, the second T20 match took place last night in Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Assam. South Africa won the toss and elected to bowl first. Team India reported 237 for the loss of three wickets in their 20 overs and reported a record total. Suryakumar Yadav was the hero of the day with 61 runs from just 22 balls. Virat Kohli (49 not out) contributed well and the opener KL Rahul (57) played a fantastic knock. Among the South African bowlers, Keshav Maharaj (2/23) took the wickets. All the bowlers were quite expensive. South Africa had to feel the pressure as there was a huge target before the team. Chasing 238, the top order tumbled down and the team lost hopes on winning the match. David Miller was outstanding with his century and he scored 106 from 47 balls without losing his wicket.
Quinton de Kock (69 not out) was the other top scorer and Aiden Markram (33) was the other successful batsman for the side. South Africa scored 221 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in their 20 overs and they fell 16 runs short of victory. India sealed the T20 series by 2-0 and the final T20 match will take place on Tuesday in Holkar Stadium in Indore. India and South Africa will play three ODIs before the teams would head for the T20 World Cup that will start from the end of October. South Africa is keen to win the third T20 match to avoid a clean sweep. The fans of the team are disappointed after South African players underperformed in both the matches.
