Ravi Shastri opens up on Virat Kohli's Test captaincy

Indian star batsman Virat Kohli shocked the cricket lovers and his fans after he stepped out as the skipper from all the formats of cricket. Ravi Shastri, the former coach of the Indian team opened about Virat Kohli's move. After Team India lost the test series with South Africa, Virat Kohli stepped down as captain for the team. Ravi Shastri said that Virat Kohli could have continued as the skipper for two more years and some of the people have not been able to digest this. It is clear that Virat Kohli is at loggerheads with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) after he announced to step down as the captain for the T20 format.

Virat Kohli was removed as the captain for ODIs and Rohit Sharma was brought as the new captain. It was then, Virat Kohli decided to step down as the captain from the Test cricket format for India. Virat Kohli said that he decided to focus on batting. Ravi Shastri during his interview with India Today said "Whether Virat could have continued to lead India in Tests. For sure, he could have led India for at least 2 years because next two years India would be playing at home and who is coming over - 9 and 10 jacks, going by the rankings. Virat would have made 50-60 more wins and this would be digestable to many". Ravi Shastri said that everyone should respect the decision of Virat Kohli.
