Jazeera flight (J9 608) had a narrow escape which comprised over 150 passengers and crew that was traveling from Kuwait to Hyderabad. The aircraft's right engine caught fire soon after landing at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), Shamshabad, on Thursday.
According to an airport official, the engine caught fire due to technical problem minutes after it landed at the airport while approaching the parking bay.
The official added that the aircraft landed at 1.33 a.m. and at 1.36 a.m. the crew noticed the fire. The RGIA fire tenders were rushed to douse off the flames and Air Traffic Control staff instructed the captain to turn off the engine. All the passengers have been safely evacuated.
